Ștefania Ferchedău is a researcher, arts producer and mediator working interdisciplinary since 2001. Her interests include crossing perspectives between disciplines in the study of artists archives, recent performing and visual art history in Romania and mediation practices for art history projects. She conceived and developed projects involving artists and organisations from contemporary dance, visual arts and architecture to accompany, produce, present and document a variety of works and events at national and international level. Recently she conceived and was artistic director of “Uncensored Act” developed by the Institute of the Present as part of the official programme of Timișoara EcoC 2023, and of the performance “Lucky Dust” (a Romanian-Portuguese coproduction), based on the archive of choreographer Vera Mantero, recently presented at Serralves Museum in Porto. She was also artistic director of the “24 Arguments. Early Encounters in Romanian Neo-Avant-garde 1969-1971” exhibition hosted by the National Museum of Art of Romania (November 2019 – February 2020), as of its accompanying programme of performances, educational workshops and guided tours. Since 2003 she was involved and coordinated various international cooperation projects. She is co-editor of the P+4 Publications. She is founder, co-artistic director and overall manager of the Institute of the Present since 2016.
